Bill Skolaut - Head PGA Professional - Bill Skolaut has been a teaching professional for over 25 years.  He has earned the reputation in Golf Magazine and Golf Digest as one of the top teaching professionals in the USA.  He has the experience and know how to help you improve. Without a doubt the modern golf swing is based on many more mechanics than we have probably known about in the last 100 years of the game.  This has its good and bad points.  There are certain fundamentals in the golf swing that all players must adhere to if they wish to become a fairly consistent player, but I am concerned that we have become to dependent on the mechanics of the golf swing.  We have lost the art of swinging the club and playing the game.  The golf swing has a timing and a tempo, or a flow as I like to call it.   Most players do not understand this part of their game and thus are unable to properly practice.  Sure it is nice to work with video and computers, but we should not forget about the relaxed tempo that makes for a good repeating golf swing.

Spencer T Olin Comm Golf Course
Spencer T. Olin Golf Course welcomes new players to this wonderful game.  A game that holds a life-time of enjoyment, friendship, and memories for those who choose to play.  Golf teaches a variety of things from athletic skills, patience, discipline, and personal communication skills.  Most importantly, the game provides a built-in-code of ethics to live by both on and off the course.  Many professional and amateur golfers, especially those who started at an early age, can attest to the positive aspects in their lives to what they have learned throughout their childhood on the golf course. A 9-hole walking course features seven par 3's, one par 4, and one par 5 - totaling 1,795 yards.  Length of holes range from 75 yards to 407 yards from the forward tees and 130 yards to 518 yards from the back tees.  The average length of our seven par 3's is 121 yards from the middle tees.  The layout of the course and it's non-intimidating environment makes it the perfect place to learn the game of golf, or to hone your game as if you are a "veteran" of the links.
This course has many of the features our championship course has, such as sand traps, Zoysia fairways and approaches, Bentgrass greens, and Bluerye Fescue rough.  It also features a practice puting green.  One of the best features of the course if that it is a walking course.  What better way to learn and appreciate the game of golf than by walking?
